The story follows (played by Johnny Flynn), a 15-year-old from Rotterdam who is struggling with the guilt of losing a crucial soccer match. Desperate for a second chance, he breaks into his mother’s laboratory to use a prototype time machine. His goal is to go back just one day to fix his mistake on the field.
He introduces modern concepts of hygiene and leadership to help the children survive disease and starvation.
He clashes with the crusade’s adult leaders, including the manipulative Father Anselmus (Michael Culkin), who views Dolf’s modern skepticism as a threat to his control.
